Senior Content Manager

United Kingdom

At Phrase, we help open the door to global business by providing the world’s leading Language Intelligence Platform.

The Phrase Platform combines AI, agentic orchestration, and a headless, API-first architecture in one composable system. Beyond translation, it orchestrates and adapts content to culture, audience, channel, brand voice, and intended outcome in any language, for every audience. It applies the context that makes content perform in every market: quality standards, glossaries, prior translations, and cultural nuance. Every team, in every region, can ship content that is on-brand, on-point, and ready for any audience.

Phrase gives enterprises the intelligence to automate workflows, the freedom to connect their own tools and engines, and the control to govern global content at scale.

We’re reshaping how we plan and create content at Phrase. A new Content Working Group brings together demand generation, SEO and AI search, paid media, marketing ops, localization and creative under one strategic umbrella. The ambition is clear: every piece of content earns its place, engages in its own right and reflects the quality of the platform we build.

We’re looking for a Senior Content Manager to sit at the centre of this. Someone who thinks editorially, obsesses over audience and brings the creative confidence to raise the bar across everything we publish. You’ll own content strategy and planning, develop and maintain our content calendar, brief and manage writers, coordinate our design studio, and work alongside specialists in paid, organic, demand gen and localization who are collectively invested in the work. You’ll also be working with the people building our product (genuine thought leaders in AI and language technology) and with external experts in the field, turning deep knowledge into stories that resonate.

This is a chance to shape a content function at a company that takes content seriously, in an industry going through one of its most fascinating periods of change.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Own the content strategy across the full marketing funnel, working within the Content Working Group to shape quarterly plans, balance priorities and ensure every asset has a clear audience, purpose and measurable goal.
  • Develop and maintain the content calendar to keep a consistent, strategically aligned publishing rhythm across channels and funnel stages.
  • Write, commission and edit content across formats: blog posts, reports, video scripts, campaign narratives, case studies, ebooks, email sequences. You’ll write well, and edit even better. For high-value pieces (original research, designed reports, narrative campaigns), you’ll commission and manage specialist contributors and agencies to deliver work that genuinely stands out.
  • Apply our editorial approach. We want content that people genuinely want to read, watch and share. Content built on original insight, sharp storytelling and distinctive points of view. You’ll champion this standard across the team and help inspire others to aim higher.
  • Compile and present content strategy and plans with confidence and conviction, whether to the Content Working Group, senior leadership or cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the design studio. Two designers support content production, campaigns, reports and communications. You’ll plan and prioritise their workload, keeping jobs moving and ensuring the right work gets the right attention at the right time. Think studio manager: organised, clear, good at keeping plates spinning.
  • Harness AI with intention. Phrase has developed a three-tier content model (Gold, Silver, Bronze) that determines how much human creative investment each piece needs. You’ll apply this framework, using AI tools where they accelerate production and protecting the space for original, human-led thinking where it matters most.
  • Fly the flag for content. You’ll be the person who pushes for great work, brings energy to the process and motivates the people around you to produce their best. Content touches every part of marketing at Phrase, and we need someone who promotes its value, celebrates what’s working and holds the standard when it counts.
  • Track what’s working. With support from Marketing Operations, use data and analytics to inform what we create next and to demonstrate content’s influence on pipeline and business outcomes.
  • Manage the content budget, allocating resources across writing, design and production.

What you need:

  • 6-10 years in content marketing, editorial or content strategy, with meaningful experience in B2B technology or SaaS.
  • A strong portfolio that shows range: editorial flair, strategic thinking and the ability to shift between a thought leadership piece, a technically grounded blog post and a campaign narrative.
  • Sharp editorial judgement. You know when something is good enough and when it could be better, and you have the skill and the tact to close that gap.
  • Experience managing writers, freelancers or agencies, with a track record of getting strong work out of the people you brief.
  • Confidence with AI content tools. Phrase is an AI company and we expect fluency, not just familiarity.
  • A working knowledge of SEO and genuine curiosity about how AI search is reshaping content discoverability. Comfortable with analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Semrush) and able to draw insight from performance data.
  • Excellent project management instincts. You can juggle multiple workstreams, keep deadlines honest and stay calm when priorities shift.
  • The ability to coordinate creative resources, keep projects on track and manage competing priorities without losing your composure.
  • Energy! You bring momentum to the teams you work with. You push for great work because you care about it, and that’s infectious.

Helpful extras:

  • Experience in localization, language technology or translation. (This isn’t essential, but it gives you a head start.)
  • A background in journalism, editorial or publishing.
  • Familiarity with video content production, from scripting to briefing agencies.
  • Experience with HubSpot, WordPress or similar platforms.
