Managed Outcomes is your content delivered in every language, to a definition of done you wrote, with Phrase running the system that keeps it there.

It runs on the Phrase Language Intelligence Platform, with Vistatec as the embedded linguistic partner. The outcome is defined first, from your own content. The system is built to deliver it, and it learns from every correction.

Start with the outcome. Then build the system for it.

Recourse has always existed. Language quality assurance, service level agreements, a credit when the threshold is missed. All of it arrives after the content does, and none of it changes the system that produced the error.

Managed Outcomes starts at the other end. What good looks like is defined first, deliberately, from your own content. Then the pipeline is built to deliver it, with linguistic expertise at its centre, and it keeps learning from every correction it makes.

What “done” means

Done means your content is ready to publish in every language, to the standard you defined, without your team reviewing it first.

At the centre of Managed Outcomes is what we call the harness: deterministic checks plus calibrated AI judges, running continuously against your definition of done, with the human at its centre rather than bolted on. Linguists calibrate it at the start, and every correction they make afterwards is what keeps it catching drift before content reaches you.

Phrase is not a translation tool. It is the harness that decides when a model’s output is enough, and when a human needs to see it, whether that is Vistatec’s linguists or your own. What Phrase owns is the engineering: tuning your assets, designing the pipeline, and running it in production.

You write the definition of done

You describe what good means in your world. Tone stays informal. Interface elements stay intact. Approved terminology is respected. Your categories, your standard, set in writing before a single segment is processed.

We do not ask you to invent the number. We derive it with you: a committed rate per category, per language and content type, reconciled against what your own content has actually achieved to date. That number is the outcome we hold ourselves to.

Critical and safety errors sit outside it. They are carved out and fixed on sight, whatever the statistics say, so a live error never waits for the loop to catch its class.

Three capabilities, one outcome

Each of these exists somewhere in the market on its own. Managed Outcomes brings them together behind one committed outcome.

The platform

The harness’s deterministic layer: Phrase Orchestrator, the AI translation agent, content groups, automated checks and surgical fixes. The engine that routes, adapts, checks and repairs content.

Engineered pipelines

Production-grade automated workflows, built by the Phrase Forward Deployed Engineers team for your content types and language pairs, with continuous monitoring that Phrase operates after handover.

Expert evaluation

Linguistic calibration, exception handling and drift remediation, delivered with Vistatec. Not translation. This is the human judgment that the harness is built around, not a step bolted onto it.

An outcome that gets cheaper to hold

Content is produced and adapted through the pipeline, routed by risk so effort lands where it earns something. Its calibrated AI judges then check every segment against your definition of done, continuously, instead of sampling a slice after delivery.

Every correction a linguist makes goes back into the system. By month twelve the pipeline is not the one you started with. It is tuned to your content, your terminology and your definition, and it needs less human attention than it did in month one.

Where inspection programmes repeat, this compounds over time.

You set the risk appetite, and you set it per content type

Support articles and brand campaigns deserve different postures, and that call is yours.

Higher appetite

Fastest and lightest cost. You accept the rare minor imperfection on lower-stakes content: support articles, interface strings, internal documentation.

Medium appetite

Fast once calibrated. Register and tone matter, but done is still definable: training content, product copy.

Lower appetite

Slower to start and a higher investment up front, then steady. For content where nuance carries real weight.

You set it per content type, not once for everything, and it moves. As a content type earns your trust, it shifts to a lighter, cheaper posture. What changes with appetite is how often a human looks and how deep the assurance goes. The definition of done stays exactly where you put it.

“My language partner already does this”

It’s a fair question, and the difference is what happens after an error, one reports it, the other rebuilds around it.

Samples output after delivery and documents whether the errors fall inside the threshold. When it misses, you get a credit. The process changes rarely, and very slowly.

Puts the same linguistic skill to a different job. Every correction closes the loop and improves the pipeline on the spot, so next month needs fewer of them. It exists to make the service level agreement unnecessary..

What done has looked like so far

lower cost on software interface adaptation across six locales, with no human touch

of enterprise knowledge base segments published without human review, with 73% clearing the agreed bar

fewer manual tasks, with no loss against a human-by-default baseline

How an engagement runs

Four phases, from a go or no-go gate to a system Phrase operates on your behalf.

Most first engagements are deliberately scoped to one content type and one or two languages. Tight enough to prove the outcome quickly, wide enough to be worth doing.

You pay for the outcome

The industry has priced localization by the word for decades, regardless of whether that word needed a model, a human, or nothing at all. Managed Outcomes breaks that link: price follows the outcome you get, not the volume you send.

You choose how much of it sits with Phrase.

The entry point.

+ Engineered pipeline
+ Automated evaluation
– You run monitoring and response

A committed outcome, one point of accountability.

+ Everything in Technology
+ Expert evaluation
+ Monitoring and drift response by Phrase

The fee is set per language and per content type, so the price follows the outcome rather than the word count.

How we de-risk it for you

Your data stays yours

Translation memories, terminology and style guides remain your property, governed by the data processing agreement, and they leave with you.

You can audit the sample

On request, you can check exactly how the review sample behind your numbers was drawn.

A defined path when we miss

Breach, investigate, fix, recourse, all set out in contracting. But recourse is not the point on its own, the correction that produced it goes back into the pipeline, so the same class of miss gets rarer. Critical errors are fixed on sight regardless.

No single point of dependency

Evaluation capacity is designed to be replaceable, and you can bring your own linguists.

Built with Vistatec

Managed Outcomes is built and run together with Vistatec as the embedded linguistic partner. Vistatec’s linguists define the standard with you, annotate the corpus the system is calibrated against, and make the structural fixes when it drifts. Phrase remains accountable for the outcome.

FAQs

What exactly is Phrase committing to?

That your content arrives done: ready in every language, to the definition of done we agreed with you before anything went live. Underneath that sits a measurable commitment, a rate per category, per language and content type, derived from your own content rather than a generic benchmark. Critical and safety errors sit outside it and are fixed on sight.

Is this a translation service?

Managed Outcomes doesn’t replace your language partners or compete with your LSP. It’s outcome engineering: designing and tuning the pipeline, calibrating the system, and operating it in production against a standard you set, with your linguists (or Vistatec’s) at the centre of it.

How is this different from the language quality assurance my partner already runs?

Language quality assurance samples finished work and reports on it. The report is the deliverable. In Managed Outcomes, every correction feeds back into the pipeline that produced the error, so the same class of error stops recurring. The evaluation exists to improve the system, not to document it.

What happens when the outcome is missed?

There is a defined path set out in contracting: breach detection, notification, time to fix, escalation, and recourse if the fix does not hold. Critical errors are hot-fixed immediately, whatever the statistics say.

Which content types and languages can you commit to?

Managed Outcomes is deliberately conservative about where Phrase commits. Factual, controlled content such as support material, software interfaces, internal documentation and product descriptions is the most straightforward fit, and coverage is strongest in languages with deep performance history. Scope expands as evidence accumulates, and Discovery tells you where your content sits.

Do we lose control of our linguistic assets?

No. Translation memories, terminology and style guides stay your property throughout, governed by the data processing agreement, and they leave with you if you leave. Evaluation capacity is designed to be replaceable, and you can bring your own linguists into the engagement.

How is it priced?

Per language and per content type, as a build phase and a recurring live phase. The unit is never the word, so volume growth does not automatically increase the fee. Scope and price are set in Discovery.

How long before we see a result?

Discovery gives you a go or no-go answer against your own content. From there, build and evaluation rounds run before anything goes live, so the outcome is proven rather than promised.
