Mazak (Yamazaki Mazak Corporation) is a leading global manufacturer of machine tools and laser processing machines. With over 8,000 employees worldwide and production facilities across Japan, US, UK, China, Singapore, and India, the company serves a broad international customer base.
While Mazak’s engineering and production processes were built for precision and efficiency, its marketing and content operations told a different story.
Websites across different countries were managed through disjointed processes. The result was slow turnaround times, inconsistent content and design, and significant manual effort.
The turning point came during a global website relaunch. Mazak needed a new approach, one that could bring its teams together, streamline workflows, safeguard brand integrity and ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience across all markets.
CHALLENGE
A website relaunch that became a catalyst for change
Mazak’s content operations were fragmented. It’s website content, in 20 languages, was managed manually by individual country staff, each with different levels of CMS experience and in-house translation capacity. This made governance and execution across continents a major hurdle.
Regional teams struggled to keep up with frequent content updates, and content quality varied significantly by market. The existing workflow relied on email requests, and each country was responsible for translating and publishing its own pages, making progress hard to track.
Mazak recognized that it needed a solution that could standardize and automate processes to support multilingual content at scale without adding friction for local teams.

“It was really difficult to find the right balance. Some regions were more advanced, others were still growing. But we had to get everyone aligned, and that wasn’t easy.”

SOLUTION
Automation, governance, and global reach
Mazak selected Phrase to help transform its multilingual content operations, starting with the corporate website. The aim was to keep every market on-brand and up-to-date without overwhelming local teams.
By integrating Phrase’s intelligent language technology platform with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Mazak connected its global content creation and translation workflows. The integration automates key steps, reducing the manual effort previously needed to manage updates across markets including the reliance on email notifications.
Mazak’s global web team in Japan use AEM to create an English-language master site with shared global content. Local teams no longer create content directly in AEM. The Phrase Platform handles the multilingual content workflow, automatically applying Machine translation (MT), guided by translation memories and glossaries, ensuring high quality content without additional manual effort by local teams.
The process is intuitive and flexible. Phrase Language AI enables each region to manage post-editing efficiently, while Phrase’s automated workflows and real-time notifications keep the process moving without delays or bottlenecks.
With every team notified exactly when action was needed, Mazak achieved consistency and speed across all markets, standardizing operations without slowing them down.
“The Phrase Platform dramatically reduced workload and improved consistency. Now, if a sentence has been previously translated, the translation memory is automatically applied. We can also review translations of similar text, making the process far more efficient.“
Yukari Yagyu, Global Web Integration Manager, Mazak
STATS & FACTS
By using the Phrase Platform, Mazak accelerated its global website relaunch to under 2 years:
29 websites
in 20 languages
“Before, we had to send emails manually. Now it’s automatic. Phrase does it all! That makes everything so much easier even for teams overseas who don’t really know the technology. Phrase makes it easy. That was a big thing for us.”
Kakeru Tanaka, Global Web Manager, Mazak
WHY PHRASE
Phrase technology you can trust with expertise you can count on
While Phrase’s technology met Mazak’s automation and integration needs, it was the implementation support that stood out. The team had no experience with language technology or content operations. Phrase provided a dedicated Solutions Architect who worked directly with the Mazak team to configure content workflows and integrate with its CMS of choice Adobe Experience Manager.
For Yukari Yagyu, Global Web Integration Manager, this level of support was a game changer. “We had no knowledge of how to integrate a CMS with language tech. Our Phrase Solutions Architect handled everything. Without that support, we wouldn’t have been able to move forward.”
The onboarding experience helped build trust across regions and made it easier for non-specialists to adopt the platform quickly.
THE IMPACT
Speed, clarity, and a blue print for scale
The new approach delivered results quickly. With Phrase in place, Mazak achieved:

Yohei Nishiura, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mazak
LOOKING AHEAD
Expanding AI and hyperautomation across content channels

- Extending the use of Phrase across the wider content ecosystem to new content types such as product catalogs, and videos
- Leveraging Custom AI and Phrase Next GenMT to improve linguistic tone, quality, and consistency
