Modern players demand immersive gameplay in their native language, but manual localization processes, siloed teams, and translation errors can cause delays and make it harder for you to reach a global audience effectively.

Phrase solves these problems by seamlessly integrating with Unity, automating workflows, and providing translators with precise context. This speeds up your time-to-market and ensures accurate, impactful translations.

How Phrase makes localizing Unity games scalable

Zero dev time for localization

Development teams can eliminate the manual tasks of exporting localization files, compiling context such as screenshots, audio files, and character limits, and creating “loc kits” for translators. With native Unity Phrase integration, screenshots are automatically taken for each text item and synced to Phrase along with character limits and other metadata. Finished translations are then seamlessly synced back to Unity.

Higher quality translations

Translators benefit from a unique approach to context presentation. Instead of sifting through reference files, translators have context directly attached to each text segment. This means they can immediately see critical information like game character descriptions, screenshots, and character limits for translations—all in one place, without the need to navigate elsewhere.

Shorter QA phases

Phrase provides industry-leading QA and LQA features, conducting automated checks on translations. It ensures that character limits are respected, formatting remains intact, and brand terminology is consistently used. This robust process significantly reduces mistranslations and other localization errors, ultimately speeding up your QA phase.

Scalability through automation

By automating the entire process—from importing source copy from Unity to Phrase, attaching context, conducting QA checks, and delivering finished translations —you can effortlessly scale to more languages. This streamlined workflow minimizes effort and maximizes efficiency.

Here to field your questions

Which Phrase product does the Unity integration connect to?

The Unity integration connects to Phrase Strings, our string repository for software products. Once your content is in Phrase Strings, you can either translate it there, or leverage other Phrase capabilities, like Phrase TMS, or machine translation from Phrase Language AI.

What context is attached for translators?

Our integration automatically transfers source copy, screenshots and character limits from Unity to Phrase. Screenshots and character limits are attached to individual text segments, eliminating the need for translators to search through multiple reference files. Sending metadata to Phrase will be added to the integration very soon.

How is the content translated inside Phrase?

You can tailor the translation workflow to your specific needs. Options range from machine translation reviewed by internal native speakers, to collaboration with freelance translators or language service providers. In fact, 5 out of the 8 top gaming LSPs recommended by Nimdzi use Phrase, allowing you to share projects seamlessly through the Phrase interface.
